Rivers Belongs to APC, We’ll Take Over Completely in 2027 – Ganduje
In a bold declaration, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, announced that the ruling party is poised to take complete control of the political landscape in Rivers State. Ganduje made this statement on Wednesday night during a meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), where the party formally welcomed Dr. Dawari Ibietela George, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), into its ranks.
Speaking at the event, Ganduje emphasized that Rivers State, known for its oil wealth, belongs to the APC. He confidently stated that George’s defection would further strengthen the party’s hold on the state.
“Rivers State is our state,” Ganduje declared. “We need a rain of votes there, and I can assure you that Rivers will be completely APC.”
The APC leader expressed his excitement at George’s decision to rejoin the party, describing him as a “big fish” whose political experience and following would significantly boost the party’s prospects in future elections. Ganduje also announced plans for a larger rally in Rivers State to formally welcome George and his supporters, signaling the party’s intent to expand its influence in the state.
Ganduje assured George and his followers of full integration into the APC, with opportunities to participate in upcoming ward, local government, and state congresses. “We want you to feel at home because we are brothers,” he said. “Your views and those of your followers will be fully accommodated.”
In his response, George, a former member of the APC until 2022, expressed gratitude for his warm reception back into the party. He acknowledged that his return was widely anticipated and emphasized his desire to rejoin the party in an open and transparent manner.
“I don’t want to come back through the back door,” George stated, adding that he is committed to contributing to the growth and success of the APC at all levels.
