Rivers Assembly Orders Arrest of RSIEC Chairman Over Non-Appearance
The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a warrant of arrest against the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Retired), over his failure to honour an invitation to appear before the Assembly. The warrant was issued during plenary on Monday by the House led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, following the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum earlier given to Enebeli.
Justice Enebeli’s summons is connected to preparations for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for August 9, 2025. The RSIEC had set the date following a Supreme Court ruling that nullified the previous LG elections held on October 5, 2024.
