Rivers Assembly Confirms Four New Commissioner Nominees
The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed four commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. During Monday’s plenary session, Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo disclosed that the governor had forwarded the names of Israel Ngbuelu, Evans Bipi, Otamiri Ngubo, and Benebo Anabraba for screening and confirmation.
House Leader Sokari Good-boy highlighted that three of the nominees, Ngbuelu, Bipi, and Ngubo, were former lawmakers who had served diligently. He urged his colleagues to allow these nominees to “take a bow and go,” a practice reserved for distinguished individuals with prior legislative experience.
The Assembly, however, conducted a full screening for the fourth nominee, Benebo Anabraba, before confirming all four candidates. Following the confirmation, Speaker Oko-Jumbo encouraged the newly appointed commissioners to leverage their experience to advance the development of Rivers State.
