Repentant Boko Haram Member Allegedly Kills Borno Businessman Over N1,000
A repentant Boko Haram member working with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) personnel has allegedly killed a businessman in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State over a sum of just N1,000.
The victim, identified as Alhaji Jidda Muhammad, was reportedly shot while traveling from Gomboru Ngala to Maiduguri. A friend of the deceased, Asharif Dan Borno, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
According to Dan Borno, Muhammad was confronted by the suspect, who demanded N1,000. When he refused, he was shot with an AK-47. “This wasn’t just a robbery. It was a cold-blooded execution,” he wrote, describing the killing as a stark example of the ongoing insecurity in the region.
Dan Borno questioned how former insurgents could operate freely despite their history of violence. “How did we get here? How can known terrorists operate unchecked? Why is leadership silent while our people are slaughtered?” he wrote, emphasizing the broader failure of protection and justice in Borno State.
