“Regina’s Mother Brought Her to Me, I Never Went After Her” – Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has clarified that he never pursued his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, for marriage.

Addressing the controversy surrounding their relationship, Nwoko stated that Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, personally introduced her daughter to him and facilitated their union.

The senator’s remarks come amid renewed public debate following Regina’s recent allegations of domestic violence and her declaration that she was no longer interested in the marriage. In response, Nwoko accused the actress of substance abuse and insisted she undergo rehabilitation.

The public exchange has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians, including celebrities, criticising the senator over claims that Regina was underage at the time of marriage and calling for his resignation.

In a statement issued through his Communication and Technical Action Team to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nwoko dismissed the allegations, insisting Regina was not a minor when they married.

“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married to me for six years, that means she married at 19, not 17,” Nwoko said. “There were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me. I never went after her.”
