Reckless Truck Driver Causes Havoc at IMSU Junction, Injuring and Killing Over 25
A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening at the Imo State University (IMSU) junction in Owerri, Imo State, where an unidentified truck driver lost control and struck numerous passersby, passengers, and vehicles.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened at around 8:15 PM. According to their accounts, the truck, driven recklessly, caused chaos as it collided with four minibuses and numerous pedestrians.
Mbamara Uju, a trader at the IMSU junction, expressed his concerns: “Two things are involved: I suspect the truck failed to brake, and the driver might not have observed traffic rules. We heard a sound like a bomb as the truck hit about four vehicles, crushing passersby and those inside the buses.”
Chizoba, another witness and shop owner near the scene, recounted the horror: “I had just crossed the IMSU junction when I heard vehicles crashing into each other. People started crying, and blood was everywhere. The driver was reportedly driving recklessly and blowing his horn in the crowded junction, leading to the disaster.”
She added that some individuals with minor injuries were taken to nearby pharmacies for immediate medical attention, while others were rushed to hospitals by concerned citizens.
As of the time of this report, residents were flocking to the IMSU junction to search for their loved ones involved in the tragic accident.
