Re: 2021 Local Council Elections – The Results are Untrue ,Unrealistic and an insult to the intellectual capacity of most Lagosians – Engr Doherty

The Chairman People’s Democratic Party Lagos State Chapter, Engr Adedeji Doherty has called out at the Hon Justice Ayotunde Phillips led Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to apologise to all Lagosians, if truly the commission authenticated a result being bandied around by the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The results state that the APC polled a total of 584,619 votes against 80,719 votes of the PDP in the last Local Council Elections held across the 20LGAs and 37LCDAs in the state.

Engr Doherty said the result been rolled out is an insult on the intellectual capacity of Lagosians.

He said the results are untrue, unrealistic and cannot support the reality of what transpired at the council elections in the state on Saturday the 24th of July 2021.

It was evident that majority of Lagosians stayed indoors during the election as a sign of protest, having lost confidence in the democratic system of the APC led Lagos State Government .

He postulated that, how could they have come up with over five hundred thousand votes, when the total accredited voters all through the state was not up to two hundred and fifty thousand voters and this could be verified through the Card Reader Data warehoused with INEC.

He also compared the turnout at last Local Council Elections with the turnout at 2019 Gubernatorial elections, which was won by the present Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu having polled a total of just well over seven hundred thousand votes.

He further said, “this clearly shows a bold disregard for the rule of law and fairness.”

“We hereby, reconfirm our total rejection of the results.”

He further said “we would be stating our next line of action after collation of our results and due consultation with our State Apex Leaders and legal advisers.”
