Ramadan: Man Collapses During Prayer in Abuja Mosque, Dies at Hospital
A 52-year-old man, Salihu Byezhe, passed away after collapsing during early morning prayers at a mosque in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The incident occurred on Thursday, March 6, 2025, while he was observing *Subhi* (pre-dawn) prayers.
According to a resident, Musa Dantani, Byezhe had eaten *Sahur* (pre-fasting meal), performed ablution, and joined the congregational prayer when he suddenly slumped. Worshippers quickly carried him out of the mosque and rushed him to a hospital in Kuje.
Despite still breathing on the way, Byezhe was pronounced dead upon arrival. The doctor attributed his death to complications from high blood pressure. His son, who was also present in the mosque at the time, accompanied him to the hospital, where the tragic news was confirmed.
The deceased, known to have high blood pressure, was laid to rest at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday in accordance with Islamic rites.
