Protests Against Government Policies Not Unique to Nigeria, Says APC Chairman Ganduje
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that challenges and protests against government policies are not unique to Nigeria. Ganduje made these remarks while addressing a delegation of party leaders from the United States on Wednesday.
During the meeting in Abuja, Ganduje emphasized that even developed economies face their own set of challenges and reassured that Nigeria’s current difficulties would soon be resolved.
“There is no doubt, as a developing country, even the so-called developed economies have their turbulence in one way or another. So, it is not surprising that Nigeria is having its own share of the problem. This is not the first time,” Ganduje stated. He added that reform agendas often encounter obstacles, causing temporary hardships but ultimately leading to progress.
Ganduje underscored that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is focused on implementing reforms to secure the country’s future. He noted the importance of strengthening Nigeria’s institutions to effectively carry out government policies and assured that President Tinubu is working diligently to improve the economy.
Expressing optimism, Ganduje said, “In a matter of time, the country will overcome its current challenges because Tinubu is working very hard on the economy.”
The visit from the APC U.S. leaders was described as historic by Ganduje, who expressed his appreciation for their commitment and loyalty. “Today they came from one of the farthest places in the world, from the U.S., to show commitment, love, and loyalty. We are highly delighted with that,” he said.
The U.S. delegation, led by Prof. Adesegun Ladejo, expressed their support for the APC leadership and the Tinubu administration despite discouragement from some Nigerians in the diaspora. Ladejo highlighted their determination to visit and strengthen their relationship with the party’s national leadership.
“In spite of the discouragement, we insisted on coming. We are here to support our President and Ganduje, our party’s national chairman, and our country’s leaders,” Ladejo affirmed.
The delegation included Mr. Oyakhilome Bello, APC U.S. National Youth Leader, Alhaji Sama’ila Maigyara, National Publicity Secretary, and Alhaja Khirat Ajiboye, Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
