Prof. Kingsley Moghalu Lands International Appointment

The Africa Private Sector Summit (APSS) has announced the appointment of Professor Kingsley Moghalu as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and renowned Presidential Candidate has accepted the prestigious role within the pan-African, private sector-focused non-profit organization.

APSS, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, is committed to promoting trade and investment in Africa. Its founder and outgoing Chairman, Mr. Judson Wendell Addy, cited Moghalu’s extensive international leadership experience, credibility, and influential networks as valuable assets for advancing APSS’s goals.

One of the central initiatives that Professor Moghalu will be involved in is the roll-out of the draft charter on private sector development, which encompasses rights and the protection of the environment in Africa, known as the “Private Sector Bill of Rights.” This charter is intended to be implemented across all five of Africa’s geographic regions and diaspora.

The primary objective of APSS is to strengthen the private sector in African countries, attract increased business investment to the continent, and contribute significantly to the implementation of the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) protocols. This work will be carried out in collaboration with organizations such as the Pan Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI), the Africa Business Council (AfBC), and other key stakeholders.

Professor Kingsley Moghalu expressed his honor and commitment to the role, stating, “I am honored to have been invited to chair the Board of APSS. I will work hard with African companies, governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders to advance the critical role of the private sector in the structural transformation of African economies. This is in the context of Africa’s economic integration and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, our collective journey to the Africa we want.”

Moghalu’s appointment is anticipated to have a significant impact on APSS’s mission to foster economic development and cooperation within Africa’s private sector.
