Presidential Jet-Setters: N15.961 Billion Allotted for Tinubu, Shettima, and Aides’ Travels in 2024
In the recently unveiled 2024 Appropriation Bill, President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their respective aides are set to allocate a total of N15.961 billion for both international and domestic travels.
President Tinubu’s travel budget amounts to N7.630 billion, with N6.992 billion designated for foreign trips and N638.535 million for local journeys. Similarly, Vice President Shettima plans to spend N1.847 billion on travels, with N1.229 billion earmarked for foreign trips and N618.399 million for local excursions.
The Villa Headquarters is allocated N6.484 billion for international and local travels, including N6.282 billion for international trips, N60.981 million for local travel training, and N140.640 million for other local journeys.
In addition to travel expenses, the 2024 federal budget includes significant allocations for various projects, such as:
- Routine Maintenance: N9 billion is allocated for the annual routine maintenance of mechanical and electrical installations within the Villa.
- Office Construction: N3 billion is set aside for the construction of offices for Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers.
- Annex Renovation: Another N3 billion is provisioned for the acquisition, renovation, rehabilitation, and furnishing of the State House Annex.
- Vehicle Procurement: N6 billion is allocated for operational vehicles, including N4 billion for general operational vehicles and N2 billion for SUVs.
- Infrastructure Projects: The rehabilitation of the Animal Enclosure receives N45.259 million, while the Villa Ranch and construction of wildlife conservation are allocated N130.076 million.
- Miscellaneous Expenditure: N5.128 billion is budgeted for foodstuff, honorarium, refreshments, and the repair of fixed assets, including N254 million for President Tinubu’s food expenses and N348 million for Vice President Shettima’s catering supplies.
- Computer Software and Repairs: N650 million is proposed for the President’s acquisition of computer software, while N103 million is earmarked for the Vice President’s software acquisitions. The Villa Headquarters plans to spend N980 million on computers and asset repairs.
This comprehensive budget outlines the financial priorities of the Presidential Villa for the upcoming year, reflecting a focus on official functions, infrastructure improvements, and essential expenditures.
