President Tinubu Orders Ministers to Account for Their Activities
President Bola Tinubu has directed all ministers in his administration to immediately provide an account of their activities to Nigerians. The directive, aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability, was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Idris, the briefings will allow Nigerians to assess the government’s actions and ask questions about its policies and achievements. The move comes just four months after President Tinubu dismissed five ministers from his cabinet. Those affected were Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (State for Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development).
Following their dismissal, President Tinubu approved the appointment of seven new ministers. Among them, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was named Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Jumoke Oduwole was appointed Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who previously held that position, has been reassigned as Minister of State for Finance.
