President Tinubu Loses Cousin, Mourns
President Bola Tinubu is mourning the loss of his elder cousin, Dr. Naheemdeen Ade Ekemode, who passed away at the age of 80. In a heartfelt tribute shared by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President reminisced on their childhood and honored the late Dr. Ekemode’s extensive contributions to the medical field.
Dr. Ekemode, a seasoned gynaecologist with over 50 years of experience, was trained in Egypt and formerly served as the chairman of the Lagos State Hospitals Management Board. Tinubu described his cousin’s death as an irreplaceable loss to their family.
“Your passing has left an unfillable void in our hearts. The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart,” Tinubu expressed in his statement.
He praised Dr. Ekemode’s compassionate nature, recalling the joy and kindness he spread to those around him. The President also acknowledged his cousin’s legacy as a physician whose care and dedication touched the lives of many.
Tinubu noted the recent celebration of Dr. Ekemode’s 80th birthday, expressing hope that they would have had more moments together. He took comfort, however, in knowing that his cousin is now at peace.
Offering his condolences to the entire family, the President wrote: “Though you may no longer be with us in body, your spirit and the bonds we shared will live on in our hearts forever. May Allah grant you eternal rest.”
