President Tinubu Greenlights Overhaul of Social Safety Net Programs – Betta Edu

In a significant move to combat poverty nationwide, President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the comprehensive restructuring of the Social Safety Net Programmes. This development was confirmed by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, through an official statement released by her Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Rasheed Zubair.

Under this extensive restructuring initiative, a total of 13 officials have been appointed to key positions within the newly created agencies. These appointments are aimed at ensuring the Ministry’s expanded mandate is efficiently executed. Among the newly established and renamed agencies are:

Youth Empowerment Empowerment and Social Support Operations (YESSO)

Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees, Poor, and Internally Displaced Persons

Grant for Vulnerable Groups

Renewed Hope Home Grown School Feeding and End Hunger Programme

Renewed Hope MSME Loan Programme

Renewed Hope Skills Acquisition Programme

Renewed Hope IDP Refugees out of School Programme (National Alternate School Programme)

Community and Social Development Programme

The appointed officials will join Dr. Betta Edu’s team in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This ambitious agenda aims to provide assistance to those affected by humanitarian crises and eradicate multidimensional poverty in Nigeria.

National Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) – Hon. Abdulaziz Danladi

Head of Office, National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) – Dr. Micheal Ajuluchukwu

Deputy Head of Office, National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) – Dr. Janet Ekpenyong

National Programme Manager, Youth Empowerment Empowerment and Social Support Operations (YESSO) – Richard Romanus

National Communication Manager, NSIP – Hon. Jamalu Kaburu

National Programme Manager, Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees, Poor, and Internally Displaced Persons – Hon. Chidinma Makuachukwu

National Programme Manager, Grant for Vulnerable Groups – Hon. Thalis Apalowo

Programme Manager, At Risk Children Programme – Hajia Salia Sanusi Yusuff

National Programme Manager, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (Renewed Hope Home Grown School Feeding and End Hunger Programme) – Hon. Mrs. Obande

Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (Renewed Hope MSME Loan Programme) – Hon. Dr. Joseph Nkang

Programme Manager, N-Power Programme (Renewed Hope Skills Acquisition Programme) – Dr. Akindele Adekunle Egbuwalo

Renewed Hope IDP Refugees out of School Programme (National Alternate School Programme) – Dr. Mrs. Etcheri Ansa

National Project Manager, Community and Social Development Programme – Hon. Olubunmi Bello

Notably, Dr. Betta Edu retains her position as the Chairman of the NASSCO Management Team, with Hon. Abel Enitan, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, serving as the Secretary of the NASSCO Management Team.

Dr. Betta Edu emphasized the importance of the newly appointed officials bringing their extensive experience to bear on their new roles. She stressed that there would be no room for excuses or failure in achieving the Renewed Hope mandate and advancing Nigeria’s progress.
