“Present Your Evidence in Court, Not on Social Media,” Akpabio Tells Natasha

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to submit any evidence she claims to possess regarding her allegation of sexual harassment to the court rather than airing the accusations on social media.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Jackson Udom, Akpabio said Akpoti-Uduaghan misled the public by suggesting that a defamation suit was only recently filed against her. He explained that the case was instituted more than three months ago in response to what he described as serious and unsubstantiated allegations capable of harming his reputation.

According to the statement, progress in the matter slowed due to routine judicial procedures, and attempts by the court bailiff to serve Akpoti-Uduaghan reportedly failed because she repeatedly evaded service. The court later granted approval for substituted service in November. Akpabio’s team maintained that her claim of a newly filed suit was false and intended to misinform the public.

The Senate President stressed that disputes of this nature belong in courtrooms, not online platforms, and accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of seeking public sympathy through social-media engagement. He referenced her previous suspension from the Senate, saying she similarly attempted to challenge a lawful disciplinary action through digital agitation.

Akpabio urged her to present her defence, file all necessary legal responses, and submit any evidence she insists she has before the court. He added that the public and legal community are now waiting for her formal reply to the defamation claims.
