Police Unravel 3 rape Cases in Akwa Ibom State
The Police in Akwa Ibom State have said in a statement signed by the Police spokesperson in the state, N-Nudam Fredrick, that one of the two men who raped a 21 year old lady on her National Youth Service assignment in Uyo state, onMay 24, 2020 has been arrested.
The suspects have been identified as Ofonime Emmanuel Essien 25, of 15 Iba Oku Street Uyo who has been arrested and Frank Okon, who is still on the run.
The Police said “Investigation revealed that the victim had visited her colleagues who also live in the same compound at No 15, Iba Oku Street, Uyo.”
The victim, had wanted to charge her phone and had to go to the room of Ofonime, who was said to be sleeping, she left, but was later called by Frank Okon that Ofonime was awake.and she could come over to charge her phone.
The suspects swooped on her and gang raped her.
The Police also stated that a 55year old man identified as Udo Ekong Esau of Odot 1 community in Not Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, who was also alleged to have raped his 15 year old step-daughter sometime in March has been arrested.
The suspect had chased the girl out of his home when he realized she was pregnant.
In the same vein, the Police also said in its statement that they have also arrested a 38 year old man identified as Ekemini Asuquo, who was alleged to have raped a 14 year old girl, who he had lured into a hotel with N1500.
The suspect was said to have threatened to kill the girl if she squealed.
