Police Smash Kidnapping Cartel: Cameroonian and Nigerian Trio Apprehended
In a collaborative effort between detectives from Force Headquarters, Abuja, and the Delta State Police Command, a significant breakthrough has been achieved in combating kidnapping activities plaguing communities in Delta State.
Yielding to meticulous intelligence and coordinated operations, authorities have arrested a Cameroonian national along with two Nigerian accomplices implicated in a series of abductions across Orerokpe, Sapele, and Warri regions of Delta State.
The prime suspect, identified as Yakubu Ya’u, hailing from Kaduna State, was apprehended in Warri following a sting operation led by dedicated operatives. Subsequent interrogation led to the identification and capture of two additional suspects, Musa Yakubu from Kogi State and Abdulahi Mohammed from Cameroon.
These individuals are alleged to be part of a three-man gang responsible for numerous kidnapping incidents in the aforementioned areas. Victims of the heinous crimes positively identified the apprehended suspects, corroborating their involvement.
During the investigation, the police unearthed crucial evidence, including two pump-action guns, a live cartridge, and a knife concealed in a bush in Ughwagba. These recoveries underscore the gravity of the gang’s activities and highlight law enforcement’s commitment to curbing such criminal enterprises.
Edafe Bright, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with concerted efforts aimed at capturing any remaining members of the syndicate.
