Police Probe Death of FMC Umuahia Staff Found in Bush Path Amid Suicide Suspicions

Police in Abia State have launched an investigation into the death of a junior staff member of the Umuahia whose body was found along a bush path in the Amaeke–Isiadu axis of Umuahia North Local Government Area.

The deceased, identified as Mr. Ikenna Onuoha, worked at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. He was reportedly discovered lifeless at night, with early accounts describing him as a sociable and committed staff member.

The incident has unsettled colleagues, relatives, and residents connected to the hospital community following the discovery.

The matter was confirmed by the Abia State Police Command, which said detectives visited the scene, documented evidence, and moved the body to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

According to the police, preliminary findings suggest suspected suicide, although no visible injuries were observed on the body at the scene. Authorities added that the investigation remains open and further details will be communicated after completion of inquiries.

The case continues to draw attention as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
