Police Kill Kidnap Suspect Attempting to Escape Custody
A suspected kidnapper identified as Garba has been shot and killed by police operatives in Borno State. According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the suspect was shot while allegedly trying to escape during his transportation to a police station. He was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
Garba, who had been on the wanted list of security agencies, was arrested around noon on Wednesday in the Gombi area of Adamawa State. His capture followed a joint operation by police operatives and professional hunters.
Authorities reported that the suspect admitted to possessing a locally made AK-47 rifle and a pistol. Both weapons were recovered by security operatives before the attempted escape.
