Police Finally Arrest Wanted Anambra Lawyer Accused of Abusing 10-Year-Old Househelp
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully apprehended Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer accused of abusing her 10-year-old househelp. The arrest follows weeks of pursuit after the lawyer went into hiding in the wake of a widely circulated video exposing her alleged misconduct.
Ohaeri Joseph, a special assistant on media to the Minister of Women Affairs, revealed that the lawyer purportedly used a broken bottle, a knife, and an electric pressing iron to inflict harm on the young girl. Mrs. Uju Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, had offered a N2 million reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor.
In a statement, Ohaeri emphasized the commitment of the ministry to collaborate with the NPF in launching an immediate investigation into the matter. The abused girl is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital, with assurances from the ministry that justice will be served.
The disturbing incident, which gained widespread attention on social media, prompted swift action from both the ministry and law enforcement.
