Police Discover Body Hanging from Tree in Anambra
A dead body was found hanging from a mango tree in a bush in Amichi, located in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on May 16, 2025. The discovery was reported to police by an unidentified individual who used the deceased’s phone to make the call.
Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed that the body has been identified and transported to a morgue. Efforts are ongoing to reach the deceased’s family. Ikenga noted that Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu has ordered heightened surveillance and intelligence operations across the state to prevent further incidents and investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
“The Anambra State Police Command is taking proactive measures to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Ikenga said.
This development comes just two days after a lawyer, Rolex Iloakasia, and his client were shot dead while returning from a court hearing. The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. in Egbebelu village, Nanka, in the Orumba North LGA of the state.
