Police Detain Rivers NYCN Chairman, 15 Other Pro-Fubara Supporters During Protest
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Chijioke Ihunwo, along with approximately 15 other pro-Siminalayi Fubara supporters, were apprehended by Nigeria Police operatives during a protest.
The incident unfolded at approximately 3 p.m. as Ihunwo, accompanied by his Chief of Staff and several other youth demonstrators, converged at the state government house gate. They had received intelligence that anti-Fubara lawmakers were convening a session at the House of Assembly Quarters on Port Harcourt-Aba Road.
Intent on preventing any legislative actions that could be detrimental to the governor of the state, the youths proceeded to the designated location. However, their mission was abruptly halted when police officers stationed in the vicinity swiftly intervened and detained Ihunwo and the protesting supporters.
