Police Arrests driver and owner of truck that killed FAAN Staff
The Lagos state police command has arrested the owner and driver of the container that crushed to death two staff of the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on July 26.
It had earlier been reported that, Chidinma Ajoku and her colleague Chima Nnaekpe had closed from work on the said day and had boarded a commercial bus home.
It was also reported that the truck driver who was reckless and had consequently lost control of the truck, making the container it was carrying fall on the bus, killing Chidinma and Chima instantly. The driver of the commercial bus, was also reported to have died later in the hospital.
The reckless truck driver, who was later identified as Okanlawon Sodiq was also reported to have fled the scene of the accident.
Chidinma’s mother had also demanded for Justice. She had called for support from all and sundry to put an end to the loss of lives caused by reckless truck drivers.
At a press conference in the state command headquarters in Ikeja, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed that the truck driver, has been arrested by a team of detectives from Ilasamaja division.
The Commissioner of Police, also said the truck owner, Wasiu Lekan, has also been arrested. The police boss said the suspects will be prosecuted.
He however warned operators of containers to comply with safety rules especially lashing of their containers or face the full wrath of the law.
