In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects—27-year-old Okechukwu Chinwuko of Umunaga Village and 22-year-old Ezenwa Chinedu of Umuneri Village—were detained after police raided a known criminal hotspot in Umunaga Village, Awka South LGA. During the operation, police recovered a pump-action gun, four live cartridges, a cutlass, criminal charms, and substances believed to be hard drugs. Additionally, two female victims, who had reportedly been sexually abused by the suspects, were rescued during the raid.
SP Ikenga revealed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to uncover more details about their criminal operations. Further updates on the case are expected as investigations proceed.

Items seized included a white Peugeot J5 Boxer bus with registration number AKL 896 XB, a vandalized Lister electricity generator, a roller, pipes, an iron bar, a large pair of pliers, a screwdriver, a metal cutter, and a pair of black canvas shoes.
The vandals were reportedly dismantling a generator connected to an MTN mast near Saint Martin’s Catholic Church in Umudege, Igbo-Ukwu, when they fled upon sighting police officers. The police have launched efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and are appealing to residents of the area to provide any information that could aid in their capture.
