Police Arrest Two for Fake Bank Transfers in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, for allegedly using fake bank transfers to purchase clothes worth N220,000 in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, stating that the fraudulent transaction was detected at the scene, prompting an alarm. The case was reported to the Oru-Ijebu Police Division by Christopher Chukwuma, the victim of the scam.
According to Odutola, the suspects were caught after attempting to obtain goods under false pretenses. Further investigations revealed that one of them had previously committed a similar fraud in 2023, purchasing generators worth N140,000 with a fake transfer.
Recovered items are now in police custody, and authorities are continuing their investigation. The suspects will face charges in court upon the completion of inquiries.
