Police Arrest Three Suspected Kidnappers Over Abduction and Death of Young Woman
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction and death of a young woman, Miss Favour Francis, in Ombi Anzaku, Lafia Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident occurred on Friday, October 3, 2025, when armed men attacked and kidnapped Favour. She was later confirmed dead following the attack.
Nansel revealed that a locally made rifle, five live cartridges, and a knife — allegedly used in the attack — were recovered during the operation.
He explained that on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at about 8:30 a.m., the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Chairman of Ambana Village apprehended two suspects — identified as Dahiru Aliyu and Sayyadi Abubakar — and handed them over to the police.
Following their arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauri Mohammed, directed the Command’s tactical unit to launch an immediate investigation. This led to the arrest of a third suspect, Abdulmumuni Isah, in Lafia township.
“The suspect later led operatives to the location where the weapons used in the crime were hidden,” the police spokesperson said, adding that two of the suspects have already confessed to the crime.
Efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
CP Mohammed commended the Vigilante Group and police operatives for their swift response and collaboration, urging residents to continue providing credible information to help security agencies combat criminal activities in the state.
