The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the murder of a youth leader, Udu Nnachi Uzor, in Ekoli Edda community, Edda Local Government Area.
The arrest follows weeks of unrest in the community, which erupted two months ago and resulted in multiple deaths and the destruction of property.
According to reports, some of the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee to neighbouring Abia State in vehicles.
Briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Abakaliki on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, identified the suspects as **Amarachi Ude, Idika Ama Okoro, and Sunday Ama Olughu**.
“Following the Ekoli Edda crisis, which led to the murder of Udu Nnachi on July 9, 2025, painstaking investigations by operatives attached to SWAT led to the arrest of the suspects. They will be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations,” the CP stated.
She further assured residents that the command is committed to ensuring thorough investigations and swift prosecution of all those involved in the crisis, with the aim of restoring peace to the troubled community.
