Police Arrest Six One-Chance Robbery Suspects, Recover Weapons in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended six suspects involved in one-chance robbery incidents across Abuja. The operation, conducted on June 16, 2024, by operatives from the Utako divisional headquarters, resulted in the recovery of weapons used in the crimes.
SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement released on Saturday. The suspects, identified as Abubakar Adams, Ibrahim Kasa, Sani Usman, Ismail Salisu, Yusuf Bello, and Nasiru Saidi, were allegedly notorious for targeting unsuspecting residents inside vehicles or tricycles. They would then rob them of valuables before ejecting them from the moving vehicle.
According to SP Josephine, the arrests followed numerous complaints from victims who reported losing mobile phones, cash, gadgets, and other personal belongings to these criminals. She emphasized that the suspects have already confessed to their involvement in the crimes.
“During the operation, our operatives recovered light weapons including cutlasses, knives, and a phone suspected to have been stolen from a victim,” SP Josephine stated.
The FCT Police Command assured residents of its commitment to ensuring safety and security across the territory. Investigations into the activities of the arrested suspects are ongoing, with efforts to apprehend any accomplices still at large.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police division for prompt action.
