Police Arrest Man Concealing Firearm in Transistor Radio
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested a suspect found concealing a firearm and live ammunition inside a transistor radio. The arrest, made by officers of the Lagos State Police Command, highlights ongoing efforts to enhance security across the country.
Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, noting that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Wisdom Obi, was apprehended at the Abule-Ado area of Lagos. Obi was riding an unregistered motorcycle when officers stopped him for a routine check. Upon searching his belongings, they discovered a Brownie pistol and 13 rounds of live ammunition hidden inside an MP3 radio. The suspect was taken into custody, with the motorcycle and recovered items documented as evidence while investigations continue.
On the same day, police officers from the Orile Iganmu division arrested four alleged traffic robbers at the Ascon White Sand area. The suspects, identified as Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyi John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon, were caught attempting to rob passengers from a broken-down vehicle. The police urged residents to be cautious of criminals who disguise themselves as roadside traders to target unsuspecting victims.
The statement emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring public safety and urged citizens to seek legal redress instead of resorting to violence. Adejobi reassured Nigerians of the force’s dedication to combating crime while upholding justice and security nationwide.
