Police Arrest Man After Gun Found in Wife’s Bag During Routine Search
A man has been arrested by the police in the Ipaja area of Lagos State after officers discovered a semi-automatic pistol in his wife’s handbag during a routine stop and search.
The arrest was confirmed by Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. He explained that officers from the Ipaja Division had stopped two women for a standard search. During a quick inspection of their belongings, the firearm was discovered inside one of the bags.
According to CSP Hundeyin, one of the women identified the owner of the weapon as her husband and subsequently led police officers to him. He was immediately taken into custody.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The police emphasized that this arrest marks the removal of another illegal weapon from the streets.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to public safety, urging residents to view the police as partners in maintaining law and order.
