Phyno Reveals How Friends Advised Him to Join Cult to ‘Blow’ His Career
Popular Nigerian rapper, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, professionally known as Phyno, has opened up about a shocking piece of advice he received during his early days as a struggling artist. The artist, famous for his hits and dedication to his craft, shared his experiences and valuable advice for up-and-coming talents during an enlightening conversation.
In a recent conversation addressing the shortcuts to success in the music industry, Phyno recounted an unsettling episode from his early career. The artist revealed that some of his friends had advised him to take extreme measures, such as joining a cult or engaging in rituals, in pursuit of rapid fame and success in his music career.
Phyno, known for his dedication to his craft and hardworking ethos, vehemently rejected these suggestions, emphasizing that he never believed in shortcuts. He firmly stood by the principles of hard work, determination, and resilience as the essential ingredients for achieving success in the competitive music industry.
During his candid counseling session with young and aspiring artists, Phyno cautioned against hasty decisions, particularly when it comes to signing with record labels. He urged them to thoroughly examine and consider the terms and conditions of any contract before committing.
“Some people look at us today and think we got it easy. Not at all,” Phyno stated emphatically. “I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’d had songs that no one knew existed.”
He continued, “A couple of friends told me to ‘blow,’ I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told them the price is too much. I’ll never do such. I believed in myself and the power of hard work. I started little, and today I thank God.”
Phyno’s advice to emerging talents was clear and heartfelt: “Young talents need to relax, do not be desperate about record deals or being in the spotlight. Keep working; when it’s time, you’ll shine. Imagine begging a label to sign you, what kind of terms will they give you? They already know you are desperate, and they will use you. At the beginning, you might not see it, but give it time; you’ll regret it. Nothing pays more than hard work and consistency.”
Phyno’s journey from obscurity to stardom serves as an inspiring example for aspiring musicians, reinforcing the message that true success in the music industry comes from dedication, hard work, and unwavering belief in oneself.
