PHOTOS: Funeral Service for Late Nollywood Actor Junior Pope Begins in Enugu
The funeral service for beloved Nollywood actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, commenced on Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Ukehe, Enugu State.
Junior Pope tragically passed away at 43 on April 10 in a boating accident on the Anam River in Anambra State, which also claimed the lives of four others. The group was returning from a movie location when the incident occurred.
According to a statement from his family, Junior Pope will be laid to rest on May 17 in his hometown of Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, in the Nsukka, Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The funeral service drew an emotional crowd of family members, friends, and Nollywood colleagues, who paid heartfelt tributes to the late actor. Junior Pope was remembered for his significant contributions to the film industry and his vibrant personality.
“He was a beacon of light in Nollywood, bringing energy and passion to every role he played,” a close colleague remarked. “His untimely death is a significant loss to us all.”
