Photos: Female Prison Officer Caught Having Sex with Inmate Appears in Court

Linda De Sousa Abreu, a 30-year-old prison officer, has appeared in court following her arrest at Heathrow Airport. She was charged after a video showing her engaging in sexual activity with an inmate at Wandsworth Prison went viral online.

Ms. De Sousa Abreu appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court dressed in grey. She confirmed her name, address, and date of birth before leaving the court, covering her face and carrying a large suitcase.

The Metropolitan Police initiated an investigation after becoming aware of the video, reportedly filmed at HMP Wandsworth between June 26 and 28. Ms. De Sousa Abreu was detained at Heathrow Airport as she prepared to board a flight to Madrid, having informed the prison of her travel plans.

Prosecutor Niamh McDonagh stated, “Ms. De Sousa Abreu was apprehended at Heathrow Airport with a flight booked to Madrid. She possesses a Portuguese passport and has relatives in Madrid.” The police seized her passport during the arrest.

Defence lawyer Gayathri Yogarajah highlighted that Ms. De Sousa Abreu had notified HMP Wandsworth of her travel plans, which were subsequently communicated to Scotland Yard.

Ms. De Sousa Abreu was granted conditional bail and is scheduled for a plea and case management hearing on July 29 at Isleworth Crown Court. She must reside at her southwest London address, surrender her passport to the police, and refrain from applying for or possessing any international travel documents. Additionally, she must hand over her Portuguese identity card, avoid entering any UK port, and comply with electronic monitoring between 9 am and 7 pm.

A Prison Service spokesperson commented, “Staff corruption is not tolerated, and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
