Popular Abuja Pastor in Police Custody Over Alleged Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl

Amos Isah, founder and lead pastor of Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry in Gwagwalada, Abuja, has been arrested and detained by the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) over allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl. The arrest, which took place last week, has sent shockwaves through the community, where Pastor Isah was widely known for his charismatic sermons and public claims of divine power.

His church, located behind Noble Noel Academy opposite the Gwagwalada Market, has been a longstanding place of worship for many residents. A review of his social media activity shows frequent posts centered on holiness, morality, and spiritual strength. On his Facebook page, Isah describes his mission as being led by the Holy Spirit “to touch lives” and states that “God has given me power.”

On June 15, Father’s Day, he posted a prayer expressing gratitude for fatherhood and calling on God to strengthen fathers to become vessels of divine love. Days earlier, on June 11, he quoted Proverbs 28:1, writing, “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” He emphasized the need for believers to rely on the Holy Spirit for courage in representing their faith.

Despite these public expressions, authorities allege that Pastor Isah used his spiritual influence to exploit a minor. According to FCID sources, the teenage victim reported being sexually assaulted by the pastor, leading to his arrest. His last recorded appearance at the church was during a service on Wednesday, June 18. A service was held the following day, but he was notably absent from the pulpit.

Attempts to contact the cleric for comment have gone unanswered. Meanwhile, reports suggest that some police officers may be working behind the scenes to shield him from public exposure. Investigators are said to be handling the matter with caution due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and the suspect’s high-profile role as a religious leader.
