Peter Okoye Breaks Silence on Psquare Fallout, Accuses Brother Paul of Turning Group into a ‘Laughing Stock’
Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, has publicly addressed the recent dissolution of Psquare, the iconic music group he formed with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy. The duo, once celebrated as one of Africa’s most successful music groups, has seen their relationship deteriorate in recent years, leading to multiple breakups and reunions.
In a candid social media post on Monday, Peter expressed his frustration over the ongoing feud, accusing Paul of discrediting his contributions to the group’s success. He also alleged that Paul had been working in collusion with their elder brother Jude Okoye, who formerly managed the group, to undermine him.
The twins first went their separate ways in 2017 following a disagreement over Jude’s role in the group’s management. Although they reconciled in 2021, tensions have resurfaced, culminating in Paul recently announcing that Psquare no longer exists. Paul further alleged that Peter was responsible for his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Peter, however, refuted these claims, questioning Paul’s motives for trying to “discredit all my efforts” in Psquare. He criticized his brother for taking sides with Jude, whom he accused of attempting to “oppress” him. Peter also dismissed Paul’s assertion that he was solely responsible for writing 99% of Psquare’s songs, listing several hits to which he contributed.
“My dear brother Paul, just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes,” Peter wrote.
He further lamented that the ongoing feud had tarnished Psquare’s legacy, turning the group “into a laughing stock again.” Peter emphasized that the success of Psquare was rooted in their collaboration, not individual efforts, and urged his brother to recognize the importance of their unity.
Despite the acrimony, Peter concluded his message by wishing his brother well and acknowledging that fans have been misled by “false narratives” for a long time.
