Peter Obi’s Media Team Reacts to Reports of ADC Appointment, PDP Return

Peter Obi’s media team has reacted to circulating reports suggesting that the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate is considering fresh political alignments, including a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or an appointment within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The reports, which surfaced online on Tuesday, claimed Obi had been offered the role of national organising secretary of the ADC. Another version alleged that he had denied any plans to return to the PDP while reaffirming a commitment to the ADC.

In a swift response, the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) dismissed both claims, stating they did not originate from Obi or his official media office. According to Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for POMR, the statements being circulated are false and do not reflect Obi’s current political stance.

“POMR has been made aware of two different statements claiming to come from our principal, Peter Obi, one of which denies his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reaffirms his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” Umar said. “And another claiming that Obi has been offered the position of national organising secretary (NOS) in the ADC. Neither of the two purported statements originated from Obi or his media office.”

Umar reiterated that Obi remains focused on his long-standing goal of building a new Nigeria and continues to be active in the ongoing coalition discussions. He also cautioned the public against accepting unofficial statements or being misled by politically motivated fabrications.

He added that any authentic communication regarding Obi’s political direction will be issued exclusively through his verified media office or official social media accounts.
