Peter Obi Visits Dele Farotimi, Commends His Commitment to a Better Nigeria

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has commended lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi for his commitment to a better Nigeria. Obi shared his admiration in a series of tweets after visiting Farotimi, who recently returned from a correctional facility in Ekiti State.

Farotimi was arrested on December 3 by the Ekiti State Police Command over allegations of defamation and cyberbullying brought against him by legal icon and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Aare Afe Babalola. The accusations stemmed from claims in Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.

Reflecting on the visit, Obi expressed his respect for Farotimi’s resilience and dedication. “Since his return from the correctional centre in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria,” he wrote.

Obi praised Farotimi’s courage in advocating for good governance and wished him a productive year ahead, emphasizing their shared commitment to the nation’s development.
