PDP’s Adamu Emerges Victorious in Jigawa Rerun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Yakubu Adamu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the rerun election held on Saturday for the Birninkudu/Buji Federal Constituency.

Following the inconclusive outcome of the March 18, 2023, election in the Birninkudu/Buji Federal Constituency, the Appeal Court ordered a rerun in eight polling units, with seven in Birninkuda Local Government Area (LGA) and one in Buji LGA.

In the declared results, Mr. Adamu secured 43,053 votes, while Magaji Da’u of the All Progressive Congress (APC) garnered 42,544 votes. The returning officer, Prof Ahmad Baita, stated that these rerun votes would be added to the March 18, 2023, election results to determine the overall winner of the constituency seat at the National Assembly.

Prof Baita officially pronounced, “Adamu Yakubu of PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected.”

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Yakubu thanked the constituents for their support and pledged to build upon his past accomplishments with the renewed mandate. The victory reaffirms the confidence of the people in his leadership within the eight affected polling units and the entire constituency.
