PDP Stakeholders Defect To APC In Kogi, Received By Gov Yahaya Bello

Stakeholders and former executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kabba/Bunu Council of Kogi State have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Governor Yahaya Bello received them, on Monday, at the Banquet Hall of the governor’s office.

Bello, in his welcome address, emphasised that the APC provides equal opportunities for both old and new members.

He encouraged opposition politicians to join the party to contribute to his administration’s efforts at enhancing the socio-economic well being of the Kogi people.

The governor also announced that the state university, in Okunland, which was initiated under his administration, would enrol its first students before the end of his tenure.

Bello also urged the people not only to unite for political participation, but to foster stronger bonds that could attract socio-economic development to the state. The governor noted that a politically united state has a lot to benefit under the current administration, both at the federal and state levels.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, a former member of the state Assembly and immediate past treasurer of PDP in council, Alfred Bello, highlighted the governor’s exceptional infrastructure development and exemplary leadership, characterised by inclusiveness, fairness, justice and equity as reasons for their defection to the APC.

The ex-lawmaker commended the governor for establishing a state-owned university in Okunland, stressing that access to tertiary education had been lacking for Okun people under previous administrations.

He viewed the establishment of the university as a testament to Bello’s belief in a unified state, demonstrating his commitment to equity, justice, and fairness.

The former PDP chieftain assured the governor that he and his fellow members, including other Okun individuals, would work towards the success of APC in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
