PDP Pledges to Obey Court Ruling Removing Anyanwu as National Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed its decision to comply with a recent Court of Appeal judgment that removed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary. The ruling, delivered by the Court of Appeal in Enugu, upheld an earlier decision that invalidated Anyanwu’s position and recognized Ude Okoye as the rightful National Secretary.

The party’s legal office received the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court’s ruling on December 24, 2024. Speaking to reporters, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated that the party is committed to respecting judicial decisions and would comply with the court’s orders.

The judgment has stirred fresh tensions within the PDP, as supporters of Anyanwu see the ruling as politically motivated. The decision comes at a time when the opposition party is grappling with internal divisions, raising concerns about its unity ahead of key political activities.

Senator Anyanwu has expressed his intention to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court. This sets the stage for a protracted legal battle, which analysts say could further deepen internal conflicts within the party.
