Paul Adefarasin Breaks Silence on Viral Video of Him Pointing ‘Pistol’ at Car Admirer
Paul Adefarasin, founder and senior pastor of House on the Rock, has responded to a viral video showing him appearing to flash what many believed was a firearm. The short clip, which surfaced on social media on Friday, was shared by an X user and credited to a Lagos-based content creator known for filming luxury vehicles.
In the 10-second video, a Range Rover slows near the videographer. As the tinted window rolls down, Adefarasin is seen inside. The content creator salutes the pastor, but Adefarasin responds by seemingly reprimanding him and briefly displaying an object that viewers assumed was a pistol. The videographer apologizes, and the car drives away.
The video quickly sparked backlash online, with several users accusing the pastor of brandishing a gun. In a statement released Saturday evening, Adefarasin denied the allegations, clarifying that the object was not a firearm.
“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” the statement read. “I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
He also noted that he would briefly address the matter further during his Sunday service.
