The Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the brutal killing of Pastor Oputeh Monday, who was beheaded by unidentified assailants in Umuebu community, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. The 59-year-old pastor was attacked on Saturday, September 27, 2025, while on his way to his farm along the Amai/Umuebu farm road.
According to reports, the incident was first brought to the attention of the police by the deceased’s son, 26-year-old Oputeh Joshua. He disclosed that his father had left home early for the farm and asked his children to bring him a motorcycle later in the day. On their way, they heard gunfire and, upon rushing into the bush, discovered their father’s body lying lifeless with his head severed.
Police detectives from the Obiaruku Division visited the scene and moved the body to Medisar Mortuary, Obiaruku, for preservation and autopsy. Security sources confirmed that preliminary investigations have begun and that confidence-building patrols have been intensified in the area to forestall further violence.
