Pastor Adeboye Bags New Appointment

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has been named Patron of the Ecumenical Synod of Bishops, Archbishops, and Senior Clergy Inc. (ESBAASC). This announcement was made during the group’s international conference, which took place from August 22 to 25 at Emmanuel Park, RCCG Redemption Camp, according to Church Times.

The conference, themed “Religious Tolerance in Nigeria and Across the Nations of the World,” addressed the challenges and strategies for achieving religious tolerance. The event saw a focus on fostering unity and dialogue among various Christian denominations.

Archbishop Prof. Kehinde Olubunmi, the International Prelate and Chief Host, nominated Pastor Adeboye for the role of Patron, and Archbishop Prof. Mary Ajisafe of Peace of God Ministry in Lagos as Matron of ESBAASC. The nominations were met with a standing ovation from attendees.

Olubunmi highlighted ESBAASC’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with global organizations to promote religious tolerance in Nigeria, with aspirations to extend this culture throughout Africa.

In his address, Pastor Adeboye, represented by RCCG National Overseer Emeritus, Pastor Joseph Obayemi, reflected on Nigeria’s historical and current religious landscape. He shared personal experiences from his youth, including observing Ramadan and engaging harmoniously with people of various faiths.

Adeboye emphasized that religious tolerance involves fostering mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence. He criticized the political exploitation of religious and sectarian conflicts, urging that true believers should prioritize love and the preservation of life over division and violence.
