Outrage as Catholic Priest Allegedly Fløgs, Sl@ps 50-Year-Old Teacher in Lesson Fee Dispute
Outrage has erupted following allegations that a Catholic priest assaulted a 50-year-old teacher at the school he oversees in Ifitedunu, Anambra State.
Reverend Father Jude Muokwe, a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, Awka Diocese, is accused of physically attacking Mrs. Ikeorah Maureen, a Primary 6 teacher at Angel’s Primary School, during school hours. Witnesses claim the priest flogged and slapped the widow, who hails from Umuanugwo village, inside her classroom on February 12, 2025.
Reports suggest the altercation began when the teacher questioned deductions made from lesson fees collected from pupils. Allegedly, Father Muokwe failed to honor an agreement with the teachers regarding these funds, prompting Mrs. Ikeorah to seek clarification. This reportedly led to the priest’s violent reaction.
Following the incident, a distraught Mrs. Ikeorah was seen in tears as she recounted her ordeal. “He came and started flogging me and slapping me. He claimed I called the teachers for a meeting. I did not call any meeting. See my face, see my back, see my legs,” she lamented.
