Osun State Governor, Adeleke, Commits to Avoid Borrowing for Government Operations
In a resolute declaration, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State reaffirmed his commitment to steer clear of borrowing money from financial institutions to fund state operations. During the inaugural session of “Ipade Imole,” a quarterly interactive public engagement forum held in Osogbo on Thursday, the governor outlined his administration’s determination to generate funds internally to support its projects.
Governor Adeleke, while highlighting the achievements of his government, disclosed plans to allocate the N2 billion palliative fund received from the federal government towards critical initiatives. These include the renovation of infrastructure, the procurement of additional buses for affordable transportation, and the rehabilitation of healthcare facilities across the state.
He emphasized his dedication to the development of Osun, mentioning his decision to allocate his security vote to fund state projects rather than retaining it privately, setting an example of leadership.
Furthermore, Governor Adeleke revealed that his administration had prioritized projects to be financed using the Infrastructure Support Fund from the Federal Government. Notable among these projects is the construction of a flyover in the state capital.
“We intend to utilize the N2 billion to support several projects, such as the dualization of roads in the senatorial districts, the construction of flyover bridges in Osogbo and other towns, street lighting for newly constructed roads, the creation of a second stream of 332 boreholes across wards, the commencement of Imole transport service, and the development of Imole Housing Estate with 500 units per federal constituency,” he elaborated.
Governor Adeleke’s steadfast commitment to financial prudence and internally generated revenue signals a determined effort to advance the progress and development of Osun State without relying on external loans.
