Osun Senator Resigns from PDP, Gives Reason

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The senator made his decision known in a personally signed letter dated June 12, 2025, which was submitted to the PDP Ward Chairman in Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

In the resignation letter, Senator Fadahunsi attributed his departure to what he described as “irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles” that have plagued the PDP at the national level since the 2023 general elections. He noted that the decision was made after extensive consultation with his political associates, family, and friends.

The letter reads in part: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections. This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith. Thank you for your understanding.”

A PDP stalwart in Ilesa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that Senator Fadahunsi’s resignation had been anticipated for some time. According to the source, the senator had long grown disillusioned with the party and had been seeking a way out, despite efforts by party leaders to persuade him to remain.
