Osinbajo: Bakare Calls on Presidency to Speak on Allegations, Reacts to Trending Video
The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare has called on the presidency to speak on the allegations of graft surrounding the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
Bakare made the call on Sunday during a church service in Lagos. He said the inability of the presidency to clarify the issues had led to unnecessary speculations which he said was not good for the country.
“It is my considered opinion that all the rumour mills going about the vice president of this nation, it is time somebody gets up and tell us the plain truth about what is going on, instead of allowing people to hazard guesses on what is going on which is unsuitable for our nation. And if they don’t want to say anything, let them not say it, but they should stop this nonsense that is going on.
“You have a moral responsibility to account for the mess that is going on” he said.
On Osinbajo, he said, “Osinbajo will have the last laugh, except he has violated his oath of office. If he hasn’t, it will be a stepping stone. Go and look for accomplices elsewhere, not me. I will be the first President preaching on a Sunday in my church.”
Reacting to a trending video where he was said to have prophesied that he will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, Bakare who was Buhari’s running mate in 2011 presidential election said the message was delivered more than a year ago but people he described as mischief makers decided to trend it recently to coincide with the travails of the Vice President.
Bakare said, “Contrary to the misconceptions and misinformation, the trending video about the 16th presidency was an excerpt from a message titled “Be Grateful for Your Blessings (Part 3),” which I preached in this auditorium on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
“That that excerpt was released at this time, a year and seven months after the statements were made, and erroneously associated with recent developments relating to the Office of the Vice President, suggests that it was either done by the uninformed, or was a deliberately designed attempt to misinform the public by linking unrelated issues, in order to create divisions where there are none, thereby heating up the polity unnecessarily.
“Unknown to the purveyors of mischief, before the video began to trend on the Internet, I had cause to correspond with the vice president through two channels, spurred by a message I received on WhatsApp.”
The clergyman said he does not have a political party yet that he will use to realise his presidential ambition but everything will fall in place at the appointed time.
