OSGF: “Direct inquiries to our office if you doubt fairness of Tinubu’s appointments” – Government Responds to Allegations

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to reach out directly to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) with any concerns about the fairness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments. This follows growing criticism and social media speculation suggesting the President has not adhered to the federal character principle in his political appointments.

These concerns were recently echoed by Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South in the National Assembly. He accused the President of violating the Nigerian Constitution by allegedly ignoring equitable representation in the distribution of federal appointments.

In response, the OSGF, through a statement signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, strongly denied the accusations. The office reiterated the government’s commitment to fairness, equity, and national unity, asserting that all appointments made by President Tinubu so far are in strict compliance with the federal character principle outlined in Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution.

The OSGF emphasized that President Tinubu is deeply committed to the unity of the nation and that the administration’s appointments reflect this belief. The statement assured Nigerians that all regions and demographics are being fairly represented in government institutions, consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The office also cautioned the public against relying on unverified social media narratives and encouraged them to seek accurate information from official government sources. It added that individuals spreading false allegations designed to incite division should not be taken seriously.

For further clarification on the matter, the government advised that inquiries be directed to the OSGF, which it described as the appropriate and official channel for such concerns.
