“Oral Sex Between Married Couples Is Not a Sin” – Apostle Johnson Suleman
Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has stirred debate after declaring that oral sex between a husband and wife is not sinful.
The cleric made the statement during a recent question-and-answer session in church, a video of which surfaced on YouTube on August 22. The church is headquartered in Auchi, Edo State.
In the video, a woman asked Suleman directly: “Daddy, Sir, is oral sex a sin?” The congregation reacted with murmurs as the preacher smiled before responding.
“Anything you do with your wife indoors is not a sin,” Suleman said. “So long as she’s your wife and both of you agree to do it, it is not a sin.”
He backed his position with a biblical reference, arguing that passages about “the wife of your youth” and “drinking from your own cisterns” referred to intimacy within marriage. The preacher also dismissed arguments that oral sex was inappropriate because the mouth is used for prayer and worship. “Don’t you use the same mouth to gossip? Don’t you use the same mouth to tell lies?” he asked in Pidgin English.
Suleman acknowledged that his comments would draw criticism but insisted couples should not deny their spouses intimacy. “Save your home, save your home,” he urged.
While his remarks addressed the spiritual aspect, medical experts have long warned about the health risks of oral sex. Professor Adegboyega Fawole of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital noted that it is linked to Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which can cause oral and cervical cancers. Similarly, Dr. Bamidele Mutiu of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital has explained that sexually transmitted infections can be transmitted through oral sex since infectious organisms can survive in saliva and genital fluids.
