Ondo PDP Holds Governorship Primary Election Today

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is set to hold its governorship primary election today, with a total of seven cleared aspirants competing for the party’s nomination. The primary will take place at the International Culture and Events Centre in Akure, the state capital, where 627 delegates from the 18 local government areas are expected to cast their votes.

Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, has been appointed to lead the seven-man committee overseeing the election. The committee is responsible for ensuring a smooth and fair process throughout the day.

The aspirants vying for the PDP nomination include a mix of experienced politicians and new faces. Among them is Agboola Ajayi, a former deputy governor of the state. Other contenders include Bamidele Akingboye, Adeolu Akinwumi, Sola Ebiseeni, John Mafo, Kolade Akinjo, and Bosun Arebuwa.

Kennedy Peretei, the PDP’s Publicity Secretary in Ondo State, announced that the accreditation of delegates is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, signaling the official start of the primary election. He also reiterated the party’s commitment to a fair and transparent process, encouraging all delegates to participate and contribute to the democratic process.

As the candidates prepare to make their case to the delegates, all eyes are on Akure to see who will emerge as the PDP’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
